In 2017, during Canada's 150th anniversary, CALL/ACBD (The Canadian Association for Law Librarians/L'Association canadienne des bibliothèques de droit) hosted their annual weekend conference in Ottawa, Canada's capital. This special year's conference centered on the rich history of Canada, celebrating the evolution and future of Canadian law. Drawing inspiration from both the monumental anniversary and CALL's sleek branding, the 2017 conference logo encapsulated the spirit of celebration and reflection.
Presented logo concepts revolved around emblematic symbols like the Canadian flag's maple leaf, the celebratory essence of fireworks, and Canada's iconic parliament buildings. In the end, the client was drawn to the firework design.
For the conference, we produced a range of deliverables including web assets, a logo, and basic signage. The centerpiece, however, was the program. Ingeniously designed, the program was bilingual, and printed in both English and French. It was crafted so that as readers flipped it upside down and continued reading, the English and French sections met in the middle of the booklet.
